Analyzing the interplay between economics and politics is essential for our understanding of economic cooperation, geopolitical challenges, political-institutional development and environmental issues.  In an ever globalizing world, the interaction of these elements has become more palpable, and critical thinking and serious consultation – on both the regional and global levels - are required as societies and corporations become more internationalized and interdependent.

Our vision at Ravand is based on the following three main pillars:
  1. Economics and politics are two interrelated elements in the course of development.  Politics paves the way for economics to proceed smoothly, while economics defines a common interest for parties that are involved.  In the globalization era this factor is even more crucial, owing to the fact that global interests are very much identified in terms of both economic benefits as well as political and strategic considerations.
  2. Development requires consensus. The process of consensus-building works only if it embraces various government and non-government elements.  In other words, development is not the exclusive preserve of the government, nor can it be advanced by the government alone.  It requires the meaningful engagement of various groups; that is, the private sector, academics, NGOs and the media.
  3. National planning is no longer a national phenomenon. It needs to reflect on external developments, influences and dimensions.  As such, development should be seen through a wide lens.  To achieve this we need to enter into vigorous dialogue with regional and international players in order to craft an environment conducive to development and the well-being of all humankind.
With this vision in mind, the Ravand Institute, as a research organization is dedicated to fostering the tradition of international consultation and dialogue amongst all players, be it domestic, regional or international in order to assist, facilitate and advance interaction, understanding and partnership.
